First off, happy new year everyone! Late, we know, but hey, we were busy!
So, here’s a quick recap of our 2015:
In 2015, we released GravBlocks+ for the Wii U™ in February. Then we attended Glitchcon in March to further show off the game. After this, the team, which was in a bit of a post-GravBlocks+ lull splintered a bit to relax and get our energy rebuilt to move forward. During that time, we looked into becoming developers for Sony for the Playstation 4™. To our utter thrill, we were approved! Work quickly began on a new title for the PS4, which we hope to reveal in the next few months. Most of the team then went to work on this surprise game of mystery for the PS4 and we were interrupted in September. At that point, we’d passed Steam Greenlight–once again, with GravBlocks.
We quickly reorganized again so that we could do some updating on GravBlocks to move it over for release on Steam. This took a bit longer than anticipated, because we had to remove several features from GravBlocks+, but kept most of the game intact. The Steam version of GravBlocks is essentially GravBlocks+, but with a streamlined Story Mode, and the removal of the GamePad-centric extra features. The Steam version is mostly identical to the Wii U version, but with new Cat blocks replacing the Smiley blocks, and the addition of Steam features such as Badges, Emojis, Backgrounds, and Cards. As well, the Achievements are also incorporated into Steam’s Achievement system.
We didn’t expect to pass Greenlight, so it was a very welcome surprise, that, admittedly, interrupted our focus at the time. Sales on Steam have been the best we’ve ever had, which is great news for us!
Now, for 2016, we are working on a new title intended for PS4, Wii U, and Steam. That’s the one we’ll reveal later. Most of the team is busy with this title.
There is another title being built as a test to see if there is interest in it. That will be revealed at a later point as well.
However, there is one more thing we’d like to address:
Anyone who has played the Wii U version of GravBlocks+ has the chance to unlock the hidden teaser trailer for Tactics Forge, and we’d like to take the opportunity to address that one here. Tactics Forge is not our primary focus right now. This is for two reasons: GravBlocks ended up lasting far longer than we had anticipated, for instance, we were no longer certain it would pass Greenlight. And getting approval from Sony was a real boost, but also interrupted Tactics Forge.
Currently, as the indie studio that we are, we don’t immediately have the time or resources to devote to Tactics Forge. As hard as it is to set the game to the side, as it were (we’re pretty excited for it!), that is ultimately what we had to do. We fully plan to return to this behemoth as soon as we’re able. For right now, however, we’ll be focusing on our two new mystery titles and we’ll have more information for you guys as soon as we can!
